Temple of Sacred Dreams

Last night, as I lay sleeping, I dreamt – marvelous error! – that it was God I had here inside my heart.

At the core of this dreamwork rests a vision to create a holistic retreat center on the Big Island of Hawai‘i. Planned to be located in the Kohala Mountains of northwestern Hawai‘i, the Temple of the Sacred Dream is to be a synthesis of the ancient and modern teachings surrounding health, spirituality, and dreaming.

The Center is to be a model for sustainability. From design to living entity, the Center embodies and recognizes that its formation and operation are dependent upon cooperating and co-creating with its surrounding environment. As such, the Center looks to harvest organic, sustainable, local foods; to minimize impact upon the environment by being a conscientious partner with the natural resources; and to honor and promote an appreciation of and humble learning from the indigenous traditions of the Islands.

Created as a retreat center to rejuvenate the body, heart, and soul, the Center will be comprised of three distinct, yet complimentary features:

Catering to individuals and couples seeking a retreat from the pressure of modern living, the Center is a place of tranquility. The Center’s environment allows for a reconnecting with the Sacred, manifest in all its varied forms.

Acting as a gathering place for retreats and workshops, the Center becomes a gathering place for community and a sanctuary offering holistic tools for improved living. From yoga and tai chi to dream workshops and festivals, activities at the Center become an avenue for one’s renewed commitment to simplifying life and to honoring Creation.

Anchoring the heart of the Center rests the Temple of the Sacred Dream. The Temple is a place of profound spiritual presence. Open to all those staying or visiting the Center, the Temple of the Sacred Dream honors the religious and spiritual traditions of the world. Within its confines rests the Holy of Holies. This sacred sanctuary opens only to those who have come to the Center to incubate their dreams. Similar to the Asclepian temples of ancient Greece, the Holy of Holies is to be a sanctuary where individuals can enter into direct experience with the Divine seeking healing, wisdom, and nurturance.

Above all, the Temple of the Sacred Dream is a shrine recognizing the immanence of the Divine and honoring the journey toward Awakening.
